The Etape du Tour is a cyclist's dream ride offering a chance to essentially ride the Tour de France for a day. This year's stage, like any stage of the Tour de France, is a big challenge. But, nothing can compare to riding over closed roads with 7000 other cyclists in one of the most scenic settings possible! etape du tour 2011

Discover France Adventures is organizing a guided tour that will include all the complicated transportation logistics needed to comfortably ride Etape without worry for how to arrive, return, pickup timing chips, etc. Our professional guides will get you prepared, and help you through the race. Everyone finishes if we can help it!

Below is our program for Modane to Alpe d'Huez (Act 1) for 2011; taking place on July 11. This guided program is meant to cover all aspects of doing Etape including the entry fee to ride Etape. If you have your own Etape entry purchased directly, we can discount your tour price to have you join!

Itinerary

DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3 DAY 4

Day 1: Arrival Day July 9: Arrive at Grenoble train station for transfer to Alpe d'Huez. Flight arriving at Lyon can transfer to Grenoble by Satobus, contact us for schedules. Transfer at 2pm from Grenoble. Upon arrival at the hotel, we will check in, prep bikes, do an orientation to get acquainted and cover the program. Your guides will cover the plan to get everyone on the finish line in 2 days! Dinner out on your own.

July 10: Village de l'Etape - Number Pickup and Registration: Travel to Modane to the village where you pick up your timing chip, numbers, and other Etape info. Here is a great place to shop for souvenirs and rest before the big day. Return to Alpe d'Huez to prepare for early departure next day. Dinner on your own.

July 11: Etape du Tour: Modane-Alpe d'Huez; 109 km First step is getting up very early in the morning to have a breakfast and then travel to Modane, 2 hours. Line up by 6:30 am. Your guides will see everyone off and then plan a road side assist before meeting you back in Alpe d'Huez at the finish. You will be accompanied by one of our professional cycling guides to help you through Etape and get you to the finish.

July 12: Departure. We return you to Grenoble rail station; departing Alpe d'Huez after 10am; arriving Grenoble after 12H00. Optional days can be added if you choose, please contact us Want to go on to Issoire-St Flour? See the next program, or our custom itinerary.


What's Included

All lodging in Alpe d'Huez in a chalet style apartment hotel, 3 star quality; 3 breakfasts, 2 guides and 1 van per 7 persons., Etape du Tour entry - guaranteed, all transportation from arrival transfer in Grenoble to departure transfer back to Grenoble in 9 passenger vans equipped with roof mounted bike carriers, water and energy bars, Discover France jersey. Total space available for 14 persons.

Bike Information

Bike Rentals: not available. Participants must bring their own bikes and we will manage bike boxes during the tour.
