Alpes + Pyrenees Cycling Tour

Itinerary Virtual Tour Tour Map

Cover them both - from Morzine all the way to Bordeaux and on to Paris if you want! This is a small group trip to cover 2 weeks of the tour through the mountains. Starting in La Clusaz, you then go to Grenoble, Toulouse, La Mongie, and finish in Bordeaux. This trip is designed to ride as much as possible and see the Tour during as many stages as possible without creating too much driving. We think it offers a great combination of both! 4 spaces remaining...

July 14: TDF Stage Chambery to Gap We will depart for Chambery to see the Tour depart, and then return to La Clusaz with a good ride toward Annecy and the cols overlooking the lake. July 16: Ride Alpe d'Huez region! With the Tour out of range now, we'll take advantage of our location in Grenoble and conquer a few more trophy climbs such as the Col de Galibier and Lautaret, and possibly others. Return to Grenoble; dinner open tonight. (B,L)

July 17: Travel to Toulouse With a fair amount of driving ahead, we want to get an early start. We'll stop at Revel on the way to Toulouse to ride into town and watch the Tour stage finish. July 18: Tour depart from Revel: From our hotel we'll get an early start with an hour drive to Revel and the start of the TDF stage to Ax 3 Domaines. After the depart of the Tour, we'll depart on a good cycling tour to Carcassonne for a visit of this medieval fortress and return back to Toulouse for the night to our same hotel. Estimate 80-100 km ride over rolling terrain today. Dinner open tonight. (B,L)

July 19: Tour de France finish at Luchon. Depart Toulouse for the mountains! We go in the direction of Bagneres de Luchon where we will attend the finish of the stage. After the stage, we return to Lourdes where we have very comfortable lodging in prime location for the next few nights. Dinner open in Lourdes. (B,L)

July 20: Bagneres to Pau: The tour stage goes to Pau, over the Tourmalet where we can ride up to see the view; or go to Pau for the finish. This can be a short ride day, or moderate ride day for anyone who needs it. From our hotel position we can have a choice of rides, depending on what the guides and the group feel is the best. (Possible viewpoints: Tourmalet, col l'Aubisque, Pau) Return to Lourdes to our hotel with dinner open. (B,L)

July 21: Tour Rest Day: With the Tour on break today, we have the chance to get in some rides not on this year's race: we can do the Hautacam and up the Tourmalet with a loop back through Bagneres de Bigorre and return back to Lourdes. Perhaps we will see some teams on training rides! We'll incorporate several hours riding before returning to Lourdes and dinner open. (B,L)

July 22: Tour goes from Pau to the Tourmalet: From our hotel we have a choice of where to watch the race finish, depending on the climbs completed in previous days. A good add-on option is to ride Luz Ardiden if time allows. We can be at the Tourmalet for the finish with a long ride up from Bagneres de Bigorre. Back to Lourdes, and dinner open again. (B,L)

July 23: Bordeaux: We hit the road early to travel all the way to Bordeaux. We'll stop along the way to incorporate a long ride into Bordeaux from the Vineyard regions east of Bordeaux. Upon arrival at Bordeaux we ride to the finish and await the arrival of the pro peloton which will likely be an exciting sprint. Stay in central Bordeaux tonight, dinner open. (B,L)

July 24: Individual Time Trial Once again we are well positioned to see the time trial today. We can ride to the TT start in Bordeaux where we can watch the cyclists warm up and set off; and later we can ride to Pauillac to see the finish and know the winner of the Tour! Return to Bordeaux, same hotel, with dinner open again. (B,L)

July 25: Departure Day. After breakfast, we will transfer to the Bordeaux rail station for departures to Paris, or other destination. End of services. We are offering a Special VIP Paris package you can take advantage of if you wish to go on to Paris. We recommend early train to Paris from Bordeaux with advance ticket purchase! 3 hours travel time.
