Self Contained in Argeles sur Gazost; July 18-21

Go where the action is in 2010! The Pyrenees are celebrating 100 years with the Tour de France and from our key location, you can ride your bike as much or as little as you want?! If you are the independent type, then this is a perfect option for you! This is a hotel package that includes breakfast and dinner each day and we include ride maps/routes to help you find where you want to ride when staying in this region. Argeles is well placed between the Tourmalet and Pau, just a short distance from Lourdes train station and close to the rides most strong cyclists who come here want to conquer: Hautacam, Tourmalet, Luz Ardiden, Aubisque, and the Marie Blanque to name a few of the most famous. The hotel is the best hotel in Argeles, the 3 star Miramont, which offers large rooms and many amenities as well as place to store your bike. Note; this hotel package isn't only for cyclists. Non cyclists who want to be close to the race can also book; but note the number of rooms are not many!

July 18: Etape du Tour day and arrival in Argeles. Please anticipate a lot of traffic today with the Etape in progress. If you arrive and get your bike set up, you can ride away from Etape toward Bagneres de Bigorres for a nice warm up. Dinner included. (D) (D)

July 19: Tour finish at Bagneres de Luchon Start ride toward the Tourmalet and up and over, down to Arreau and go toward Luchon over the Peyresourde! Return the same way. 112 km one way! You can also choose to ride the Hautacam and other rides in the area closer to your hotel. You may wish to use the train from Lourdes to get closer, or a rental car to cut your ride down. (B,D),D)

July 20: Bagneres de Luchon to Pau Tour Stage: Today is the day to ride the Aubisque and go all the way into Pau. Return by bike or use the train. (B,D)

July 21: Depart; check out before 11am: (B)

Note: rooms are twin rooms - meaning 2 single beds. These can be pushed together to make a double.

LEVEL:
This tour is suggested as a challenging cycling tour in order to watch the TDF, however non-riders can join and do their own thing.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE:
Toulouse is suggested Arrival and Departure City - accessible by TGV and air from Paris. From Toulouse trains to Tarbes or Lourdes are possible and from there bus or taxi. Car rentals can be had at any of these locations.

OPTIONS:
Bike rentals are not available. We can also book Paris hotels.

OTHER DETAILS:

Space is available for 7 participants in 2 twin rooms and 3 single rooms.

Meals: buffet breakfasts are included daily. Dinners will be hardy mountain specialties with multiple courses; wine is not included.

Watching the Tour: you will have to position yourselves to see the race each time you go to watch the Tour but no special access is included in this offer. If some participants wish to add a helicopter flight or other VIP service, please contact us to know what is possible.
